New Malden Partnership, in partnership with IGERS Surrey, the Kingston Chamber of Commerce, and Kingston Council is hosting its very first Instameet.

We are capturing the hidden spaces, secret gems and celebrating the magic of New Malden. Now more than ever, we need your help in capturing photos at this exclusive event that champions the uniqueness of our brilliant town.

The goal of our instameet will be to celebrate and share the magic and wonder of being a dynamic cultural space, rich with heritage and art, and loads of friendly indie shops and cafes. We’d love for our talented IGERS community to share the beauty of New Malden and all that it has to offer through our IGERS visitors’ camera lenses.

We will hold a public competition for the “people’s choice” photo at the end of the Instameet and welcome your photos of the community at the end of the event. People can vote right here on this page after the event.

1 / What is an Instameet?
An instameet is an event where a group of photographers take a walking photographic tour of our beautiful borough while also capturing it for our Instagram and social media community. The goal of an instameet was to share the best of a town’s features through its locals’ and visitors’ camera lenses. A competition is held and the winning photographer receives a prize.
2 / When is our New Malden Instameet?
19th November, 12-3pm
3 / What is the theme for our Instameet?
The theme of the tour will be a “scavenger hunt” – capturing our hidden gems, quirky spaces, our vibrant culture, and the best of our independent shops. Led by our tour guide Danielle, our photographers will go on a tour around New Malden, and who are invited to capture the magic of our town through their lens. We will share our itinerary closer to the date of the Instameet.
4 / Will there be a competition?
Yes! Right here on this page. We will also ask our photographers to share their images with our team so we can upload them here to our website. We will then hold a competition, enabling the public to vote for their “fan favourite” of the Instameet. The winning photographer will receive a lovely prize as a thank you for sharing our local with the world.
5 / How can I get involved?
We invite all New Malden businesses to dress up and decorate shop windows on the day of the Instameet so we can capture wonderful images of shopkeepers and their businesses. We will hold digital campaigns leading up to Small Business Saturday (and Christmas).
We will also promote all New Malden businesses on Small Business Saturday, 3rd December 2022.
